The event, organized by the Number Resource Society (NRS), in partnership with the Mozambican National Institute of Communication Technology (INTIC), offered a unique format designed to inform and engage participants.
Combining keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, the agenda was carefully curated to provide a comprehensive understanding of pressing digital security and AI governance issues.
The morning kicked off with a warm welcome and networking breakfast, setting the stage for what promised to be a day of meaningful dialogue. Elton Kambugu, NRS Africa Division Manager, provided a concise introduction to NRS and its mission, underscoring Mozambique’s strategic importance in the digital landscape.
Following this, Lourino Chemane, CEO of INTIC, delivered an enlightening opening keynote, offering a detailed overview of Mozambique’s current state in cybersecurity, AI development, and the broader internet landscape. Emphasizing the interconnected challenges and opportunities in these areas, Chemane highlighted the critical role of collaborative efforts in advancing national cybersecurity and AI governance.
A significant moment during the event was the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between NRS and INTIC, symbolizing their commitment to collaboration in cybersecurity and AI.

The event also featured a thought-provoking panel discussion on “Cybersecurity, AI, and Governance – Integrating Strategies for a Secure and Ethical Digital Mozambique.” Moderated by a renowned cybersecurity or AI expert, the panel comprised a diverse group of experts including leading AI researchers, policymakers, and representatives from the private sector, academia, and government agencies. The discussion centered on collaborative strategies for enhancing Mozambique’s digital security while ensuring ethical innovation in AI governance.
